...Could this be a result of menopause ?

Memory problems can occur during menopause.  Natural hormone therapy has been very useful in treating memory problems.   We no longer treat most menopausal symptoms with estrogen but other effective relatively safe treatments are available.  Estrogen is still useful in the treatment of hot flashes.

...How can I best utilize the internet ... ?

The internet provides quick and easy access to useful information for people who are interested in being a partner in their own health care.  That's the up side of the equation.  The down side is many diseases have the same or similar symptoms which makes your physician critical in diagnosing and treating your conditions.  If you feel you have information your doctor is not aware of, print a copy and take it to your next visit.  Your physician will be happy to discuss the information with you.

I am a thirty two year old white female in good health but recently have noticed some strange symptoms such as spots in front of my eyes, occasional trouble swallowing, some numbness and tingling in my arms and legs and short term memory loss.   Is this serious?

The symptoms you describe could all be explained in non-serious medical terms, however, serious neurological disorders such as multiple sclerosis and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis affect women three (3) times as often as men.  These diseases usually appear in the thirties.  If you have symptoms like these, I would recommend an evaluation by your family doctor, internist or neurologist.
